Crabs Galore Feast (Part 2)

It must have been the chilly Melbourne weather that got a few of us craving for crabs again. There is nothing like comfort food and the company of friends to chase away the blues. Also with the end of the crab season looming and prices set to rise again, there was no better time than now to “have our crabs and eat it too”. Thus it came about that a group of us gathered for Crabs Galore Feast Part 2 on a cold May night at Satay Inn in Kew.

What had started out as a small causal gathering had quickly grown when we invited interested people to join in through our FB groups. Within half a day, we had over 20 persons and no more could be accommodated.  Our apologies to those who wanted to join but missed out.

Having savoured Singapore chilli crabs and Malaysian ‘kam heong’ crabs in our first outing, this time our group of 24 adults and 3 kids tried the pepper crabs and salted egg yolk crabs, accompanied by chicken satay and duck mifun (vermicelli noodles). The food was yummy especially the salted egg yolk crab that came served on a bed of glutinous rice (chef’s creation).  We finished the meal with complimentary teh tarik. Together with good wine (BYO), good company and lots of conversations and laughter, the night turned out to be great fun. Even though some of us had only met for the first time, by the end of the night firm friendships had formed.  Thank you to all who came for the dinner and we hope you had just as great a time as we did.

Satay Inn Kew is located at 100 Denmark Street, Kew

The restaurant serves Singapore and Malaysian food
