The Merlion Club
The Merlion club connects Singaporeans in Melbourne and Australia.
“No matter who you are we share one identity, we are all Singaporeans living abroad.”
The Merlion Club started with 11 founding members in June 1990. It was formed to foster fellowship and networking among Singaporeans/former Singaporeans and their families in Melbourne Australia and with friends of Singapore.
The emblem chosen depicts the “Merlion”, a half lion, half-mermaid figure that dates back hundreds of years in Singapore culture and history to the naming of the island. The merlion is a symbol easily recognized by everyone connected with Singapore as a true Singaporean emblem.
